Olivia Higdon

Olivia Higdon is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) and is currently obtaining her Master’s degree from Catawba College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Olivia completed her Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy from Queens University of Charlotte in 2018. Since the completion of her music therapy internship and throughout graduate school, Olivia has worked as a psychiatric music therapist, primarily in the hospital setting. From a professional standpoint, Olivia enjoys working with all ages and needs in counseling and has worked with adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults in various capacities. Olivia has experience working with individuals with trauma, PTSD/C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, severe and persistent mental illness, ADHD, personality disorders, neurocognitive disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Using a person-centered approach, she provides an empathetic and non-judgmental environment for all of her clients. Olivia believes that everyone deserves to feel heard, respected, and cared for without bias and judgment. She aims to meet the individual with a personalized treatment plan through utilizing a variety of counseling approaches and interventions. Overall, her goal is to provide meaningful treatment and resources for her clients to live happily, successfully, and healthily. In her spare time, Olivia enjoys singing in her local choir, reading, and spending time with her family/cats.
